Studio relocation causes cancellation of Jischke show

Jischke

After a one-month hiatus, president Martin Jischke will resume his live call-in radio show, "AM-920 Magazine," in August.

Jischke's next dialogue with the community will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Aug.1 at the WBAA radio studio. The radio station's studio was recently relocated to a newly constructed studio in the basement of the Elliott Hall of Music. The studio relocation was the cause of the cancellation of July's show.

Nearly all topics for the academic year have already been set.

In next week's show, Jischke will reflect on the highlights of his first year at Purdue.

WBAA manager Dan Skinner said he hopes for strong community response and involvement during the show.

"Listeners are encouraged to call in with questions and concerns," Skinner said. "This is their opportunity to talk with the president directly about any area of concern regarding Purdue."

Topics for the upcoming months are as follows:

  • Sept. 5 — The enrollment process. How does Purdue select students? What policies have changed?
  • Oct. 3 — The strategic planning process. What is the timeline for the process? What has been accomplished to date?
  • Nov. 7 — Student life. How has it changed? What services are provided by the University? How is the University addressing issues of safety and discipline?
  • Dec. 5 — Boilermakers athletics. Where do athletics fit into the University's mission?
  • Feb. 6 — Purdue research park. What does the park mean to the University and to the community?
  • March 6 — Research funding. How does Purdue obtain research funding? What has been raised to date?
  • April 3 — To be announced.
  • May 1 — Private fund raising. What are Purdue's private fund-raising goals? What has been raised to date?

There will be no January program due to the holidays.

In the past, Jischke has utilized this monthly space to inform and converse with Purdue and the West Lafayette communities about the University's important issues, events and plans.

Local listeners can call 496-1999, while other listeners can call toll-free at 866-922-2101 to make inquiries to Purdue's president.
