A freshman on the Purdue men's basketball team has decided to transfer, the school announced Wednesday evening.
Freshman Scott Martin, who played in 32 games and started eight of them, will not play at Purdue next season.
"I truly valued my time here at Purdue," Martin said in a press release. "I made many great friendships and met a lot of great people. I am thankful to the coaching staff and my teammates for the opportunity they have given me. I feel it is in my best interest to take a different route for my basketball career."
Martin averaged 8.5 points per game last season and was one of four members in a highly touted freshman class that helped lead Purdue to the NCAA tournament"s second round.
"Scott told me that he intends to transfer," coach Matt Painter said in a statement. "We'll help him any way we can, and wish him and his family nothing but the best in the future."
